Sending Quilted Hugs

As mentioned a few times in previous posts, I have been engaged in some secret sewing.
One of our QBSA members was in need  ...... so we did what quilters do ....... we sent some Quilters' Love and Hugs.
Some of the angels got together and decided to create a dream come true (oops a song just popped into my head :)) make up a few blocks with the recipient in mind.  20 blocks in total were received which were made up as a quilted pillow cover for a Euro size pillow (26" square), and a candle mat.

Block makers were:  Jeneta, Elizabeth, SueB, Robyn, Ruth, Rosemary, Maria, Anna and Beth
My sincerest thanks to the block makers .............. you have made some really beautiful blocks.
Assembled and quilted by me (CathyC) and forwarded to our recipient by SueB of QBSA.

We hope it has arrived safely and that our 'quilted hugs' helped lift her spirits during this difficult time.

December for Anna B.

On the way to Anna from Bundoora!
I absolutely enjoyed making this block.
I already had the pattern as I have a daughter Anna
and thought I'd ever try the "Annie's favorite block"!
She asked for cream & burgundy.
I think it's a beautiful combination & sure do hope it fits
nicely with her collection!
Blessings~

NEW YEARS GIVE AWAY CELEBRATIONS

To celebrate reaching over 100 members on our Facebook group page, Cathy who co ordinates this group with me suggested we try a little give away.  So I approached the lovely ladies at the fat quarter shop and they have kindly donated a wonderful gift of Lori Holts happy colours Aurifil thread set.

This Draw is open to all AUSTRALIAN MEMBERS ( sorry overseas ladies) of Quilting blocks swaps Australia FACE BOOK GROUP. To be eligible to be in the draw all you need to do is join our Face book page before New Years Day 2014.  I will then draw the give away randomly and notify the winner via Face book.

Global Concepts for Kerry

here is the block I made for Kerry - my last for the QBSA Paper Pieced Swap Club
the block is called Global Concepts - I am relatively pleased with the way it turned out, but will not be continuing with the Paper Piecers Swaps - I just don't enjoy this process very much :(

my November block for Encarna in Spain has arrived safely - mine is still winging it's way to Australia

November and December block update

Christie Leigh was my November partner, and this lovely block arrived in the post on Friday, Christie Leigh also spoilt me with a cute fat quarter of pretty blue Christmas fabric. I love the fussy cut zig zags on the star.
My partner for December was Margaret from Medowie NSW who requested a colourful Dresden plate on black. This was my first ever Dresden plate and I loved how easily the block came together. When I was googling the pattern for this block I found a tutorial for any easy way to make them from a charm pack, and as I have a stack of charm packs in my stash, I think I may have it have a play.

December blocks for Encarna

December blocks for Encarna in Spain who requested a log cabin block in black & white - I couldn't decide on the fabrics, so I stitched 3 blocks. Hope these blocks suit your project.
