July block for Karen P

Here is the block that I made for Karen P ..
Karen asked for this plaited block from Quilters Cache ... it was an interesting block to make .. I only had to unpick one seam .. which I thought was pretty good really .. haha ..

I do hope you like my 2 bright complimentary colours .. with the white background ..

it will go in the mail on Monday ...

Fabricworm Bundle winner

We had 58 entries in the Sponsored give away by Fabric worm.

I listed all the entries in the order they were received on Excell, starting with Blog entries and then adding Face book entries on.

Random generator selected lucky number 48 which is Helen Scobie from Waratah in New South Wales.  Helen is a relatively new member to QBSA doing only her second swap this month after joining when she read the article about us in Homespun magazine.

Congratulations Helen, the lovely Cynthia at Fabric worm has been sent your details and she will get this pretty bundle of fabrics posted to you.
That leaves the rest of us to have to pop over to fabric worm HERE and purchase our own favourite bundle

Thanks Elle.....

Thanks to Elle for my Churn Dash block that arrived this week...... I love those colours ....

So fun collecting these

Thanks Elle... it's perfect

Deb's Star

Deb from Queensland is my partner this month and her request was any star in purples or violets.  Rummaging through my stash I realised that I really dont have a lot of purple, but I did find enough to do this for Deb.

I challenged myself and made a star that was a little more difficult and I am really pleased with how it turned out.  I hope Deb thinks so too

A pretty block

Here is the 12” blog the pretty May block I received from Brenda
Thank you
Billy

Ank’s July Block

June blocks

These are the 2 beautiful disappearing 9-patch blocks I received from lovely Maria in Canada.
They will fit perfectly into my planned quilt.

I have completed my July 12" swap block for Donna in Victoria. (below)
It is a variation on the Carpenter's Square, made in black, red & blue.
I shall get to Post Office when this rain stops...LOL.

Dawn's June block

For June, I think Dawn was new to the swap so I was able to do a double swap. Dawn asked for either of two blocks and as both were relatively easy I made both. The under block is black and a pale lavender although the photo doesn't show it up too well. Dawn has received the blocks so I can show and tell.

Hi Ladies

What a mammoth month  We have 84 members, and ALL of them are swapping this month which is probably a first, and certainly the biggest monthly swap we have had.

You still have a week to get your June blocks send off to your partner, so please make sure you email you partner if you are running late, and even though I have sent the July partners out early, you still have all of July to get those swap obligations done.

May swaps

This is the block I made for Jane. I hope she liked it!

And this is the beautiful block I received. I love it! Thanks so much, Jane!

Another swap quilt completed.

A few weeks ago I showed you the flimsy but now I can proudly show you the completed quilt.

This is the fourth quilt that I have made with blocks received in the QBSA block exchange, and I think they keep on getting better.

I have been calling this one blazing arrows swap quilt, as a reference to the style of block used, but now its complete I have renamed it BlacK KaT.  As I mentioned in a previous post this if going to be a gift for my girlfriend Deb who is an avid cat lover, and turns 50 in July.

I started collecting these blocks in September 2011, and one member (Beatrice from France) kindly sent me two identical blocks in my exchange with her, so I used this extra block to make a matching cushion.
This a true Multicultural quilt with swaps from the following ladies
Beatrice - France (2)
Encara - Spain
Teresa - Portugal
Brenda - USA
Cathy - Canada
Helen - Australia (2)
Erin - Australia
Raelene - Australia

As always when I position a quilt for photos my camera shy dog Robbie (not) jumps on it to be in the picture.  Look at him posing for the camera  - so cute.

Janet’s June Block

On Friday there was a parcel in the mail for me. It came from Qld sent by my June swap partner Janet.   I love the cute box she put it in and the card.

We love the Fat Quarter shop

I am sure everyone has heard of the fat Quarter shop - they are the go to place for online fabric shopping as they have such an enormous range.

The very generous and lovely Kimberly, owner of the Fat Quarter shop has kindly agreed to be a sponsor of QBSA

To make things easier for members - due to the International range of members donations will be in the form of gift vouchers that recipients can use to shop online with.

Stay tuned as Kimberly and I work out the logistics and look forward to some more competitions for followers and members of QBSA.

But in the meantime, why not hop onto their site to do a spot of shopping
 - just click on the button above.  This button will also be placed on our blogs side bar for members to easily pop on over to do a spot of fabric shopping.

This is the block I sent Petah for June

This is the Harvest star block I received from Petah. She even included the pattern sheet which was great. Thanks for being my partner this month.
I also got to swap with dawn in USA but as she hasn't yet got her block I'm keeping it a secret. Welcome to the swap though, Dawn.

June Swaps...

This month I had two partners and both are Aussies...
my first partner is Erin and she wished for either a ''Road to California or a Star Block"
and any colour choice... so I did
Road to California is a trendy grey and orange with an off white background...
this block is winging its way to Erin as of yesterday...
and
my second June partner is Helen who is a newbie
and she wished for either  a "Double Hourglass or Patchwork Star"
with white and my choice of other colour...
I can tell you the Hourglass block is a little tricky but I got it done...
Ladies I do hope you like your blocks and thank you for being my partner for the month of June...

My June block are on the way

This month I had to swap partners. I've already posted their blocks. They are both going to travel all the way to Australia.

This one is going to Billy

And this is going to a new member who recently joined our group. It's Jannene.

I do hope they like them.

From New Zealand

This stunning block arrived in my letterbox today from the lovely Lorraine in New Zealand.  Lorraine also sent me this useful sun glasses case, she must be spying on me and sees how naughty I am to put my good sun glasses into my handbag without a case.  I am sure to use this now.

Yellow pops

As I have completed the top in blazing arrows - my new block choice is any block in black, white, grey and yellow and look at the beauty I received in the post today.

This is from Sue P, a fellow Adelaide quilter.  I love how the yellow in this block really makes it pop.

June blocks ............

Michell asked for this pinwheel block in Civil War prints - it is actually darker than the picture shows -

and Sharon left the block choice to me, in yellow, white and grey. So many choices and possibilities I could have made a whole quilt [but didn't]. This is the block for Sharon.

Happy stitching,
Jan
